Parent and Student Resources

Book Levels

The end of year standard for Kindergarten is that each student should be at a Guided Reading Level "D" or higher, with comprehension. If you are interested in finding out about book levels, you can use Book Wizard. It is a free app available for your iPhone or Android. You can also access it from the following link:

https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/bookwizard/

Find books at a certain level:

- From Book Wizard, click the drop down button for "Reading Level System"

- Select "Guided Reading Level"

- You can then choose a level or a variety of levels to suit your needs

- Books at the chosen level(s) will be displayed

Discover the level of a certain book:

- From Book Wizard, enter the name of a book, author, or key word in the search field (at the very top of the page)

- If it is in the database, the book will be displayed with the level under "Guided Reading Level".

Kid Friendly - Search Engine

Fostering a child's curiosity is one of the great benefits of being a teacher. In today's world with so much information at our fingertips, we can research just about everything. As exciting as it is, it may also be quite overwhelming.

If you have been looking for a search engine that is safe for children to use, try www.kiddle.co made by Google for kids.

We will be using it throughout the year to find out more about certain topics.
